Plans and Goals for 2013
7 Jan 2013
2013. I like the sound of that. We had a little informal survey this year over which is better: odd years or even years. I am firmly in the odd camp, even if I’m in the minority. And I’m so excited about this year. I’ve been keeping my goals to about 4 for each year, and then a good handful for each month, and I love it. Big yearly goals tend to get lost in the shuffle, so it works best for me if I can count them on one hand. Here goes!
1. Go on a retreat. I haven’t been on one in ages, and it’s calling to me this year. I don’t know yet when or where I’m going, but I am going. Most definitely.
2. Keep up the C & E Book Club. I use the term book club very loosely. Basically, Eric and I really love reading the same book and then discussing it. He reads mostly non-fiction, and I read mostly fiction, so when our reading Venn diagrams overlap, it is always really fun. He’s just absolutely my favorite person to talk to, especially about books, so I want to make sure we get to that this year.
3. Try some completely new crafts. I love making things, if that wasn’t obvious enough already, but I feel like in the last few months I’ve mostly been hopping between knitting and beading, and I want to try some things I’ve never done before. Like quilting. And cross stitching. And whatever else strikes my fancy. So excited!
4. Exercise. As I said before, this will probably be an eternal goal for me because I am not one of those people who just itches to head to the gym every morning. I have to prioritize it, but I always feel so glad I have done it. I know it’s good for me, and it’s wonderful to feel like I’m taking good care of myself.
That’s it for me! What are your goals for 2013?

I agree.. I love it when M and I read the same book and we can discuss it.. it’s always fun to see hope our views and opinions often vary.

Happy New Year Cameron!!! Your goals are great. Love that you and E discuss books. My hubby is drowning in business classes right now, so no fun reads for him. I for one will be enjoying some good books.
I haven’t yet thought of my goals. I feel like my brain is swimming with so many and I need to narrow them down. How are you liking Elise’s goal-setting class? I’m really thinking of taking it too.

Happy new year to you too, my friend! I’m glad you’ll be doing some fun reading this year, and hopefully Dre can join you before too long! I am just getting started with Elise’s class, but I think it’s awesome! I have been doing monthly goals for about 6 months, inspired by her example, and I love it. She has really helped me think of goals as fun and creative rather than drudgery! Hope to see you there, if you decide to take the class!

If I only accomplish 2 GOals this year, they are:
1 Organize my work/study space, and,
since I like to eat a lot at different places,
2 Meet to Eat with more of the people I know!
1 & 2 will = #3: More peace & happiness!!
Am I asking for too much?? 🙁

No way, your goals sound awesome! My husband helped me get my workspace organized last fall, and it has made a world of difference for me. You wouldn’t believe how messy it was before! Happy new year to you, and here’s to your goals! 🙂

I think you should make a Unity Quilt a la Leslie Knope. 🙂 And I think I’m fairly torn between odd and even years; I was born in an odd year (a good thing), but I’ve had a lot of good things happen to me in even years….But perhaps this year will give me reasons to fully reclaim my odd-year birthright?

Bwahahaha, that would be awesome! I think you can embrace both odd and even years!
